About Us

Ilé Ẹ̀kọ́ Yorùbá is a registered online Yoruba language school founded on a simple but powerful belief: that everyone deserves access to quality Yoruba language education, no matter where they are in the world. We offer live, one-on-one classes with trained and experienced teachers, designed to fit around your schedule and tailored to your specific learning goals. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to strengthen what you already know, our lessons are structured to meet you exactly where you are. Our approach goes beyond language. Every class is an opportunity to explore Yoruba history, culture, folklore, and values, giving learners a deeper connection to what the language truly represents. We teach children from the age of four and adults at every stage, making us a school for the whole family. Classes are available across multiple time zones, so wherever you are in the world, you can find a session that fits your schedule and lifestyle. Over five years, we have delivered more than 3,000 class sessions to students across six continents, with over 75% referral rate that reflects the trust our community places in us. From diaspora families preserving their heritage to individuals discovering Yoruba for the first time, Ile Eko Yoruba is where the journey begins.

OUR STORY

Ilé Ẹ̀kọ́ Yorùbá was founded on 26th April 2020 by Similoluwa Kazeem, an educator and passionate advocate for Yoruba language and cultural preservation. What began as a one-woman school driven by conviction has grown, over five years, into a thriving online learning community serving students across six continents.

The school was born out of a concern that was hard to ignore: the Yoruba language, rich in history and identity, was quietly fading among younger generations and diaspora communities who had little access to structured, quality instruction. Similoluwa set out to change that, building a school that would make Yoruba education accessible to anyone, anywhere, without compromising on quality.

From day one, Ilé Ẹ̀kọ́ Yorùbá has been entirely self-funded. No grants, no investors, just a commitment to the work and the trust of a community that kept coming back and referring others. Today, with more than 3,000 class sessions delivered and with over 75% student referral rate, that trust remains our greatest measure of success.

We are registered in Nigeria as a limited liability company, and we continue to grow with one goal at the centre of everything we do: to keep the Yoruba language alive, accessible, and celebrated for generations to come.
